Our Philosophy

Treat your customers and employees as you would want to be treated; success will follow. Stay close and responsive to suppliers; without them, we would have no customers.

Our History

Well-known interior designer Walter Lee Culp launched his eponymous showroom in Dallas in 1972, featuring renowned textile designers Jack Lenor Larsen and Angelo Donghia. Walter Lee Culp Associates met with immediate success and soon added other luxury textiles brands and selected furniture collections to its portfolio. In 1974, the firm opened a second showroom in the Decorative Center of Houston.

As a college student, Kelly Hardage assisted Walter Culp with the opening of the Dallas Showroom, and the two remained friends through Hardage’s tenure in architecture school and then as showroom manager and VP of Sales for Boris Knoll Fabrics. In 1992, their paths again converged when Hardage accepted Culp’s offer to be President of Walter Lee Culp Associates.

Over the next two years, Hardage’s strong relationship with the suppliers and customers of Walter Lee Culp Associates was instrumental in continuing to grow the business. He purchased the business in 2004 and changed the name to Culp Associates.

Under Hardage’s ownership, Culp Associates added new lines and distinguished the Dallas and Houston showrooms amongst the most design-diverse premier showrooms in the country. The firm remains committed to showcasing exceptional design, quality, and customer service.

Cammie Marrs joined Culp Associates in 1994 and after Kelly purchased the business, Marrs was promoted to VP/General Manager. In 2017, Marrs went on to become President and partner in the business along with Jessica Salmons, who acts as VP and oversees the Houston showroom.

In 2021, Hardage retired and Karen Rogers-Still, designer, and dear friend of Kelly’s, purchased his shares. Together Rogers-Still, Marrs, and Salmons are thrilled to work together as the third generation of Culp Associates. Together, they will continue to build on the rich legacy of Walter’s and Kelly’s leadership as they lead Culp Associates into the future.
